THE SHORT ANSWER
The CabKing 6V3 belongs on a shortlist for buyers who want a six-wheel cabbing station with a supplied abrasive sequence. Its main buying question is whether that fixed wheel layout suits your work and available bench space. It is not a substitute for a saw, and we cannot verify its cutting speed, finish quality, noise or long-term reliability without testing.

| Item | Published specification | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel diameter | 6 inches | Compare stone access and wheel replacement sizes |
| Motor | 1/4 hp direct drive | Do not interpret horsepower as a measured production rate |
| Supplied wheels | 80 and 220 plated; 280, 600, 1200 and 3000 resin | Six mounted stages rather than one disc changed repeatedly |
| Machine dimensions | 27 × 13.5 × 12 inches | Allow additional working and water-container space |
| Published weight | 62 lb on product page | Plan a stable permanent location |
| Electrical selection | Voltage variants available | Confirm machine and pump requirements for your country |
Who should consider the CabKing 6V3?
Start with the work you actually want to do. A buyer making domed cabochons from prepared slabs has a different requirement from someone trying to flatten large display specimens. For another six-inch wheel station, compare the CabKing 6V3 with an identified Genie G2 package. Six wheels keep several abrasive stages mounted at once, which makes the layout worth considering for a cabochon workflow. That is a layout benefit, rather than evidence that this machine produces a better polish than every flat lap.
If you mainly need broad flat faces, compare a horizontal flat lap first. If you want to turn uncut rough into slabs, budget for access to suitable sawing equipment as a separate decision. The CabKing purchase does not remove either question. Read our cabbing machine versus flat lap comparison before choosing the machine format.
What the supplied wheel sequence means
The manufacturer lists two plated grinding wheels followed by four resin wheels. This gives the buyer a defined starting system and a clear list of future consumables. Keep that list with your order paperwork; replacement diameter alone is insufficient because wheel type, bore, width and permitted operation also matter.
A supplied sequence is not a promise that every stone needs exactly the same treatment. Material, existing scratches and the desired surface all affect the finishing process. The useful purchase advantage is knowing which stages arrive with the machine. Do not assume that buying extra fine abrasives immediately will resolve problems caused by an earlier scratch or contamination.
Included accessories: useful, but check the complete order
The product documentation lists a right-side diamond lap and polishing provision alongside the wheel station. Verify the current included-items list for the exact machine revision, because family photographs can show accessories positioned differently. Ask whether the shipment includes the pump, tubing, drain components and compounds shown in the listing.
Separate included supplies from the workshop items you still need. A bench, water containers, appropriate eye protection and a workable cleanup arrangement remain part of the setup decision. Additional stones, replacement abrasives and a saw should have their own budget lines rather than being hidden in a general accessories allowance.
Bench space and water planning
The published body dimensions describe the machine, not the complete operating area. You need room for stone handling, access around the guards and a stable route for water supply and drainage. Use the current manual for clearance and assembly requirements. Avoid building a cramped enclosure around the machine using only a product photograph.
The CabKing water system is intended to deliver clean water rather than return used grinding water to the wheels. Plan supply and waste containers accordingly and follow the manual. Our assessment does not include a measured water-use rate; any estimate of how frequently you will refill a container would depend on settings and working time.
CabKing 6 versus the 8-inch model
The 8-inch model is a separate, larger machine with a different motor and footprint. Compare the actual body dimensions, wheel access, weight and electrical version rather than treating it as a simple wheel-size upgrade. A bigger number on the specification sheet does not establish that the extra cost is useful for your stones.
The detailed CabKing 6 versus 8 comparison includes the space tradeoff. For a first setup, choose around a repeatable project size and the bench you can realistically provide. Leave the larger-machine decision open until you have a reason that additional capacity matters.
What this review can and cannot establish
The documented strengths are the six-stage layout, a clearly specified starter wheel set and a manufacturer-supported accessory system. The purchase tradeoffs are the space commitment, water handling and future replacement-wheel expense. Those points can be assessed before ordering.
We have not measured vibration, bearing life, wheel runout, sound levels, material-removal rate or polish quality. Manufacturer demonstrations can help you understand layout, but they do not replace comparable independent tests. We do not assign a numerical performance score or repeat owner anecdotes as established failure rates.
Questions to send the seller before paying
Confirm the model revision and voltage, the full included wheel list, pump specification, stock status and shipping weight. Ask how shipping damage is documented and which return conditions apply once water and abrasives have been used. For an international order, get a delivered-cost quote that separates freight, tax and import charges.
If you have a particular stone size in mind, send its dimensions and intended operation. A useful answer explains whether access and holding are suitable, rather than simply saying the machine can work with many rocks. Save the response with the order confirmation.

Verdict: choose the workflow first
The CabKing 6V3 is a sensible machine to investigate for a dedicated cabochon bench when its mounted-wheel workflow matches your plans. It deserves comparison with other cabbing machines, especially on total delivered setup cost. A buyer focused on large flats or rough sawing should settle those needs before purchasing it.
For ongoing ownership planning, use our replacement-parts checklist. It explains the information to record while the machine identification and included kit are still easy to locate.
