LAPIDARY BENCH
How we research equipment
Our guides combine primary documentation with original decision tools. We do not physically test products or claim firsthand ownership.
1. Define the purchasing question
We start with a specific decision: which layout fits the intended work, what operating space is required, which replacement dimensions must match, or what is missing from a kit. A broad product label is not enough to answer those questions.
2. Identify the exact configuration
Where available, we record the model or revision, disc or wheel diameter, voltage, selected kit, and optional accessories. We avoid combining a family’s lowest displayed price with the specifications of its largest variant.
3. Prefer primary sources
Manufacturer product pages and current instruction manuals are our main sources for specifications, setup requirements, and included parts. We link to the relevant references. When those sources disagree, we identify the difference or leave the point unresolved rather than silently choosing a convenient number.
4. Add original analysis
We build accessible comparison tables, compatibility checklists, and diagrams from documented dimensions. Calculations state their inputs and limits. A body-footprint calculation is not an operating-clearance specification; a nominal kerf calculation is not a measured material-saving result.
5. Label judgments and unknowns
A layout-based shortlist is an editorial judgment. Published motor power is a specification. Noise, finish quality, cutting rate, ergonomics, reliability, and consumable life are performance questions we have not tested. We do not invent results or use star ratings to imply those tests happened.
Images and diagrams
Our diagrams are explanatory drawings, not product photographs. The homepage mineral still life is an AI-generated editorial illustration and is labeled as such. It does not document work performed by Lapidary Bench.
Updates and corrections
Each equipment guide states when its source documentation was checked. Dates should change when substantive information is reviewed or corrected, not to manufacture freshness. If a current source differs, send a correction with the exact model and reference.
Commercial relationships
Our link and affiliate disclosure explains the current status of outbound links. A commercial relationship must be disclosed near a recommendation when one applies. Payment must not be presented as test evidence.
