THE SHORT ANSWER
The CabKing 8V1 is a dedicated eight-inch wheel station to investigate when the extra working room justifies a large, heavy permanent setup. The complete purchase includes the bench, water handling and correct electrical variant. Its motor rating does not establish a measured production advantage.

| Field | Current manufacturer specification | Decision it informs |
|---|---|---|
| Grinding system | Two plated wheels and four resin wheels, all 8-inch diameter | Six mounted abrasive stages |
| Motor | 3/4 hp direct drive | Electrical and machine-format comparison |
| Body dimensions | 42 × 16 × 14 inches | Machine envelope, not total working clearance |
| Published weight | 160 lb on the current product page | Support, delivery and positioning |
| End accessories | 8-inch 360-grit lap left; 6-inch canvas pad right | Side-specific accessory identification |
| Pump switch | Included with the 110V model only | Do not assume the 220V package is identical |
Who the eight-inch layout is for
The useful starting question is whether your intended stones need the access offered by this larger station. The manufacturer distinguishes the eight-inch machine by wheel width and spacing. That is a reason to investigate handling room, not a guarantee that a particular rough piece can be held or polished successfully.
Describe the stones you expect to work: approximate dimensions, intended shape and whether they arrive as slabs or prepared blanks. Bring those details to the seller or an appropriate demonstration. A specification sheet cannot establish how comfortable you will find the reach, splash-guard arrangement or bench height.
The supplied abrasive system
The listed package has 80- and 220-grit plated wheels followed by 280-, 600-, 1200- and 3000-grit resin wheels. This is the manufacturer’s supplied starting sequence. It identifies what is included and what replacement stages to record; it is not a universal finishing recipe for every material.
The separate lap and canvas pad are additional surfaces with specified shaft sides. Keep those positions in your machine record. Do not assume a right-side accessory on a six-inch machine transfers to the same location on the eight-inch model. Our grit-sequence guide explains how to read the supplied stages without equating different abrasive constructions.
Weight, bench and delivery planning
Use the current product page’s 160 lb figure when requesting delivery and support advice. The manual and product page may use different approximate weight figures or describe different assemblies, so ask which weight applies to the shipment and installed machine. A general-purpose table should not be assumed adequate from appearance alone.
Measure the route from delivery point to workshop, including doors, turns and the final bench. Plan lifting and positioning with appropriate help or professional handling rather than improvising around a heavy wet-work machine. The body dimensions also leave out practical room for the operator, water containers, access and cleanup.
Water supply is part of the purchase
The machine uses a separate pump and clean-water system. Record where the supply and waste containers will go and how they can be inspected without awkward reaching. The water-supply planning article provides a worksheet for that arrangement.
Pump output ratings are not the same as water consumed during your own work. We have not measured a working flow rate or refill interval. Keep clean supply separate from used slurry, and use the manufacturer’s instructions for the water system and cleaning rather than adding a recirculation modification.
Electrical version and included extras
Select voltage on the exact order, then verify both the machine and pump requirements. The product page specifically limits its included pump foot switch to the 110V version. A photograph showing a switch is therefore insufficient evidence for a different electrical package.
For an imported order, request the correct voltage, frequency, plug details and delivered charges in writing. A travel plug adapter changes physical connection, not the equipment’s electrical requirements. Have electrical suitability assessed appropriately where necessary; this review does not provide wiring modifications.
The trim-saw attachment is a separate decision
CabKing lists an optional trim-saw attachment for the eight-inch system. It is not part of the basic six-wheel purchase unless explicitly included in your order. Read its separate capacity, mounting and operating instructions before comparing its complete cost with a standalone trim saw.
The word all-in-one should not obscure the work involved in changing configurations. Establish which surfaces remain available, what the accessory requires and whether it supports your intended material. If your real goal is slabbing rough, compare that requirement separately rather than treating a trim attachment as a large slab saw.
How to judge value without invented performance scores
Compare the total delivered machine, necessary support equipment, included consumables and current replacement costs. The stronger motor and larger wheels are verifiable specification differences. Noise, vibration, finish quality, cutting speed and long-term reliability are not measurements we can report.
For a smaller-workflow alternative, read the CabKing 6V3 review. The direct size comparison covers the cross-model space decision, while this review focuses on the eight-inch order and installed setup. Use the cabbing-machine shortlist for other layouts.
Before you place the order
Confirm the revision, voltage, included wheels, pump and switch, end accessories, warranty and delivered configuration. Ask about damage reporting, return conditions after wet use, and availability of replacement water and drive components. Keep a copy of the current manual with the invoice.
Shortlist this machine when a permanent eight-inch station answers a clearly defined need. If the extra access cannot be connected to the work you plan, the additional support and space costs deserve scrutiny before purchase.
